A Dark Night in Gotham

Since I was out in VA last weekend, I was not part of the record crowds going to see The Dark Knight. I decided to go to a place right near work tonight to catch it.

It started out with a bit of good action, rolling into some things that you can tell are laying the ground work for the big clash between Joker and Batman. Then about an hour into the 150 minute epic, right when we are going to get to see the first real confrontation between Bruce Wayne and Rachel, everything goes dark.

Now, before those who haven’t seen it accuse me of giving away the story - or those that did see it get too confused, let me clarify. The movie didn’t just go black, the entire theater did. Well, at least until the emergency lights kicked in. Granted, I didn’t know it was the whole theater until a couple minutes later when I headed out to the lobby to see what was up.

After about another 10-15 min the employees started letting folks know they were giving refunds (actually vouchers) and aking folks to head out. Last I heard as I was heading to the car was that they were not expecting the power to be back on for 60 to 90 minutes. It was a fairly major problem, power seemed to be out for blocks around the theater. Course, probably won’t find out what happened… with the power.

I’ll have to try and catch the movie again tomorrow.

Don’t forget to tip your friendly council member

WaitressSonic has come to town…

What does this have to do with council members? Well, It was hot and muggy last night after work. I did not want to sit at home where I have no AC, so I went to see Hellboy 2 (which I recommend), and afterwards I was hungry. The new Sonic was on my way home, so I figured I would check it out. I had heard the stories of people waiting hours in line to get to this place when they first opened a month or so ago… I got right in. I think I got there just before the Drive-In area was closing. The Drive-thru line was .. massive.

So I order a burger, onion rings and a coke. The car-hop brings my food out, and there’s that awkward pause after she gives me my change where I think to myself “Am I supposed to tip?”

Missed it by ‘that much’.

Ok, dual-purpose posting here.

First, go see Get Smart. I like Steve Carell (I’m glad he got this over Jim Carey). I haven’t gotten in to The Office, but seen some of his stuff from there, seen Little Miss Sunshine, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Dan in Real Life, and soon as I heard he had this role, I knew he would do it justice. And he did. It is seriously too bad Don Adams didn’t live long enough to do a cameo.
