July 20th, 2009 — cooking
I took some fish out of the freezer this mornig and put it in the fridge with the intention of grilling some lemon-pepper fish tonight. Well, it was still frozen when I got home, so there went that idea. So instead… I go looking through the fridge.
Hmmm…. left over (home made) salsa from a BBQ last week. Some left over pizza sauce. Turkey… grilled that breast last week, still have a lil bit left. Bout 1/2 can of left over diced tomatoes. What’s that down on the bottom shelf? Tofu Shirataki… oh yea. Found this at Byerly’s a couple weeks ago. Tofu “spaghetti” noodles. In a 4oz serving there’s 20 calories, .5g of fat, 3g of carbs and 1g of protein. Been meaning to try these out.

So… spaghetti it is (they do make a angel hair and fettuccini style noodles as well).

May 17th, 2009 — cooking, ramblings
This last week flew by. I’ve been busy at work.. 10+ hour days. We’re in the final weeks of one large project, and we just started construction on a new Sonic restaurant. But… better to be too busy than out of work, right?
My weight loss stalled a bit this week at around 282-284. I know I’m not getting enough exercise. I know I’m not getting enough protein. I’m still working on both. I bought a sample pack from Bariatric Advantage… I’m hoping some of the protein supplements will be good and I can order stuff to have on hand to boost my protein intake.
But, while I didn’t seem to lose weight, I am.. shrinking. Just a few weeks ago I bought a pair of size 40 shorts on clearance, they didn’t fit when I bought them. They fit yesterday.
I have a fair number of jeans and old BDU pants that I’ve had for years… size 40-42 on the jeans, down to size XL on the BDUs. I’m a pack rat. I probably held on to them this past decade or so thinking… “some day, I’ll lose weight and they’ll fit again.” Well, this is that “some day”.

The other night for dinner, I grilled some fish and had some Chili Lime Perch for dinner. Now, post-op, right now I’m eating only 1-2oz of protien or so per meal. So when you cook over half a pound, there’s going to be left overs.

I originally wrote and posted the following on my website over 10 years ago…
Ok… I admit it. I’m a bachelor.
This was confirmed tonight when I went to clean out my fridge. (This was part of a grander cleaning of the kitchen that I do every few weeks whether it needs it or not.) Now, I didn’t go to my fridge expecting to have it confirmed that I am a bachelor, but when I was talking later to a couple friends, and mentioned a couple of things I found there, they both made it a point of telling me that I am.
Here’s a glimpse of some of the things I found. First, something I’m sure not just bachelors will relate with here, this is something anyone who’s had their fridge too packed for awhile to notice that little container in that bottom corner. And by the time you find it you have no idea what it was It’s now a dark greenish-grey color, but what color it was originally?
