Busy… busy… busy…

No Head ChickenI haven’t been around much this last week… We have some more articles coming here. Just need to get the time to finalize some editing and what not. What have I been doing? I’ve been running around like a … well, chicken’s with no heads are probably calmer than I’ve been feeling this week.

Part of it’s work.
Just dealing with some stress related to nearing the end of a $2.5million dollar project and dealing with someone we think may be doing some things that are a bit… well… at the least, unethical. At the worst… potential fraud. (wheee fun).

Part of it’s family.
My grandma is gonna be 92 next week. We had an early party for her last week cause a cousin was in town to visit. She’s been in hospitals and assisted care for the last 4 months. Prior to that, despite being wheelchair bound and legally blind she had been living at home, alone. It’s pretty much become clear she won’t be going home again without live-in assistance. It’s cause added stress on my Dad and his sisters cause Grandma is her stubborn Scottish self and well… the rest of them are also all just as stubborn in their own ways.

Part of it’s weather.
It’s been cold. Way too cold. Highs in the low 50s. It’s friggen June people! I had to turn my furnace on last Saturday! And I don’t know if it’s the weather or not… or maybe cause I’m more active now that I’m slimming down.. but my knee has been hurting more than it has in a long time. It’s frustrating.

Part of it’s fun.
Spent all day last Saturday playing paintball… in the rain…. with about 840 other players from all over Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa (probably Illinois too). Well, that’s how many started, but by the end of the day it was down under 300 I think. It was still fun though. I was on the field for just over three hours before I took a break, and it wasn’t cause I was tired or anything… I needed more paint and to get something to drink. I think I walked over 9 miles throughout the day.

Then, I’ve been kicking in to high gear on preparations for this weekend, leaving in the morning for another paintball weekend. It’s our team “boot camp” where we get together and work on teamwork and tactics to help when we’re in games like the one last week.

Ironically enough, I’m doing all the cooking for about 25 people. I threatened to only give everyone the same portions that I’ll be eating… but that didn’t go over well. On top of planning and shopping and prepping for this, I’m having to double up on figuring out what I can eat. IE, Saturday breakfast is pancakes and sausage… I’m bringing some stuff to make my instant oatmeal pancakes, and may have part of a sausage patty. Bought some SF syrup even!

But despite all the stress… I’m still progressing.

I bought a pair of 38 jeans on Wed, been wearing them the last two days. I don’t need a belt to hold them up, but I didn’t have to “suck it in” to button them either.

I’m nearing the 260 mark on my weight…. bought a couple XL size shirts that are fitting fine… and in general getting just a ton of great compliments and support from friends and such. I know I don’t thank you all enough, so real quick, “Thank you!”

I guess all in all, despite the stress, despite the pain, despite the frustrations, I have three last words to share….

Life is good.
