That’s not a clafoutis, it’s a flognarde!

If you had asked me a few days ago what a clafoutis (or clafouti for your Anglophones) is, I would have had to Google it. Actually, I had to just now. It’s basically a custard like dish made with cherries. And you can tell it’s French because of how pretentious they are about the ingredients… cause if you make it with fruit other than cherries, you don’t get to call it clafoutis, instead you have to call it a flognarde.

Tonight I decided to try and make a smaller sized one with fresh peach and strawberries.
The idea came from a cooking site I recently found… Food Wishes, where Chef John posts videos of how to make some pretty amazing stuff. The other day he posted this Peach and Blackberry Flognarde recipe.
I had picked up some fresh strawberries earlier today at the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market, and stopped at Lund’s on the way home grabbed a peach. I decided to make a scaled down, WLS friendly flognarde.
While I only had a couple bites, it did turn out good. I may bring a chunk of it with my lunch tomorrow… and am thinking of making a larger one for a family bbq this weekend.

It was easy… I’ll post the recipe either on formerfatdudes.com or my food site later (I’ll leave a comment when I do), but wanted to get the pics up cause… well, I figured I needed to post something tonight.
