Ok, dual-purpose posting here.
First, go see Get Smart. I like Steve Carell (I’m glad he got this over Jim Carey). I haven’t gotten in to The Office, but seen some of his stuff from there, seen Little Miss Sunshine, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Dan in Real Life, and soon as I heard he had this role, I knew he would do it justice. And he did. It is seriously too bad Don Adams didn’t live long enough to do a cameo.
Second part of the reason for the title is after wandering across an online rp based site that is also sort of free form, creative writing based similar to the Dragon’s Mark site I run, I responded to one of their blog posts that heralded their launch and also happened to be one they were using for a contest.
Without digging it up, my response was complimentary of the site I believe, but I had mentioned how the genre (based on the Vampire/Werewolf stuff from White Wolf) wasn’t really one I was in to. So, lo and behold, here it is about a month later… and I get an email that I won third prize, a couple of books worth more than $50 – The World of Darkness Rulebook and a choice between a copy of Vampire: The Requiem or Werewolf: The Forsaken.
The site owner was polite enough and asked if it I had really wanted to be part of the contest, or was just leaving a comment. They were more than willing to ship it out to me if I wanted it, but if I didn’t, they wanted to know if it was ok to just draw another winner. That was more than fine with me, so I told them so.
Anywho, while I didn’t take the prize, I thought it was still worth mentioning… and that I’d give their site a plug while I’m at it. I haven’t had a chance to dive in to it as much as I would like, but their Capturing Fantasy blog has some great stuff on it to help out those who are into creative writing… and I plan on culling it for links in the future if I ever get time to really work on my own Writer’s Lab site again.
